The translator, Amalia Popper, studies english in Trieste. The teacher was James Joyce. Richard Ellmann was the first, in 1968, that wrote that Amalia is the mysterious dedicatee of the poem «Giacomo Joyce», and one of the sources for the character of Molly Bloom in «Ulysses».
